BY-LAWS
NEVADA LODGE OF RESEARCH #2, F.&A.M.

October 6, 2004

ARTICLE I. TITLE AND PURPOSE

§ 1 This research Lodge shall be titled: Nevada Lodge of Research #2, F.&A.M.

§ 2 The purpose of this Lodge is to engage in the research of all things Masonic. At the request of any Lodge, to present programs of Masonic education, also to promote an interest in the history of our Order, the messages contained in the ritual, and to foster and encourage a better-informed membership within this jurisdiction.

ARTICLE II. OFFICERS

§ 1 The Worshipful Master, the Senior and Junior Wardens, Treasurer, Secretary, and three (3) Trustees shall be elected by ballot in conformity with §§ 5.010 and 5.030 of the Nevada Masonic Code. Appointed Officers shall be: Chaplain, Senior and Junior Deacons, Historian, Librarian, Tyler, and such officers as the Lodge may deem proper to appoint.

§ 2 The annual communication for the election of officers shall be at the November communication next preceding the anniversary of St. John the Evangelist.

§ 3 All officers elected and appointed must be duly installed before entering upon the duties of their offices. All elected officers shall hold the office to which each was elected until his successor has been duly elected and installed.

ARTICLE III. DUTIES

§ 1 All officers will perform their duties which ancient usage has assigned to their stations, as such are limited by the Nevada Masonic Code as applied to Lodges of Research in conformity with §§ 4.060 through 4.150.

§ 2 The Appointed officer of Librarian will be responsible to oversee the operation and utilization of the Masonic Library. The Librarian may coordinate directly with the Temple Board on housekeeping policies and practices.

ARTICLE IV. MEMBERSHIP

§ 1 Active Members must be Master Masons in good standing of a Nevada Chartered Lodge as prescribed in § 4.100 of the Nevada Masonic Code. Only active members are entitled to vote. Subscribing Members include Master Masons from affiliated Grand Jurisdictions or Masonic Groups, including Lodges for such affiliated jurisdictions that desire to receive such material as the research Lodge may wish to distribute to members. Contributing Members include Master Masons from affiliated grand jurisdictions or Masonic groups, including Lodges that contribute material at the request of the Lodge, which is acceptable fo the purpose of this research Lodge. Honorary Members include Master Masons from affiliated grand jurisdictions elected to this position by vote of the active members of this research lodge.

§2 Active Members shall not be limited in number except in conformity with § 4.100 of the Nevada Masonic Code. The Lodge shall at all times have at least then (10) Active Members in good standing in Nevada Chartered Lodges.

§ 3 Petitions for membership shall be acted upon with the rules set forth in the Nevada Masonic Code.

ARTICLE V. FEES AND DUES

§ 1 The initiation fee for the Lodge shall be twenty-two ($22.00), and the annual dues of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) irrespective of the date of initiation.

ARTICLE VI. COMMUNICATIONS

The stated meetings shall be held at the Masonic Memorial Temple, 2200 West Mesquite Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada five (5) times a year in the months of January, March, May, September, and November, at 2:00 p.m. on the third Sunday of the month (except holidays) of designated months. Upon written notice thirty (30) days prior, stated meetings may be rescheduled at any proper place or time within the jurisdiction. Special meetings or working seminars may be called and scheduled from time to time as the Lodge or Master may direct, in conformity with § 4.230 of the Nevada Masonic Code.

ARTICLE VII. AMENDMENTS

§ 1 These by-laws may be amended at any stated communication, according to § 4.260 of the Nevada Masonic Code, by the vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members present, providing that such amendment shall have been presented to the Lodge in writing at the stated communication immediately preceding, and that such amendment has the approval of the Grand Lodge.

ARTICLE VIII. PUBLICATIONS

§ 1 All papers presented to the Nevada Lodge of Research No. 2, F. & A. M. for publiction shall prior to publication, be presented to the Most Worshipful Grand Master for his review and approval.

ARTICLE IX. AMENDMENTS

§ 1 All then members of this lodge were notified through a mailing of the text of changes on 10 August, 2004, along with notice of vote to be taken on the same at the next stated communication.

§ 2 These bylaws were regularily adopted in open Lodge, 12 September 2004
